ANNAPOLIS, MD - On March 13, 2025, Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna K. Miller convened a roundtable with the Governor’s Interfaith Council. Together, the leaders discussed how they can help uplift and support their communities amid federal workforce layoffs, firings, and changes to federal funding.

“Maryland is mobilizing, and we need everyone working together to uplift our federal workers,” said Gov. Moore. “Faith leaders are community anchors—they are the ones closest to the challenges, and so they are the ones closest to the solutions. We are grateful for the partnership of our interfaith community, and together we will leave no one behind.”

“Few states feel the impact of federal layoffs as deeply as Maryland,” said Lt. Governor Aruna K. Miller. “But we stand strong, knowing resilience comes through community and action. Our administration is committed to supporting federal workers, and we’re proud to activate the Interfaith Council. Our faith leaders will turn faith into action—providing hope, stability, and support—reinforcing our shared commitment to uplifting workers and families across Maryland.”

The Moore-Miller Administration continues to champion its resources?? for federal workers—including expanded online resources and partnerships to host job fairs—in addition to state agencies’ work to facilitate public servant transitions to new careers with the State of Maryland. Th?is week, Lt. Gov. Miller joined more than 700 federal public servants in Prince George’s County for a career transition and resource fair. Last week, Governor Moore attended a virtual workshop for former federal public servants and contractors hosted by the Maryland Department of Labor, speaking to more than 250 registered attendees.

“Faith communities look to their leaders in times of crisis for both hope and help,” said Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives Director of Faith Outreach Dr. Lora Hargrove. “The Governor’s Interfaith Council gave the governor and lieutenant governor their wisdom as trusted leaders today and their continued commitment to support and serve as they uplift all communities in need.”

Since its launch, the Maryland Public Servants Resour??ce Website has received more than 118,000 views. More than 1,000 Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employee claims have been filed in Maryland since January 21.
