From: Maryland Governor Wes MooreANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Wes Moore today released the following statement on the Maryland-led lawsuit to stop mass firings of federal probationary employees:
“Maryland’s federal workforce comprises roughly 160,000 jobs-10,000 of whom hold probationary status. These workers are dedicated patriots who keep us safe, who provide essential services, and whose mission is to serve our people. Our state would be incomplete without their service.
The draconian actions of the Trump-Vance Administration could lead to tens of thousands of jobs lost, hundreds of thousands of lives disrupted, and the cratering of tens of millions of dollars in income here in Maryland. As our state navigates the worst fiscal crisis in two decades, we cannot retreat from our principles, and we cannot afford to let these actions stand.
I commend Attorney General Anthony Brown and the 19 other attorneys general from across the country for standing with us and standing up for our fe?deral workforce. Maryland is mobilizing, and together, we will continue to confront crisis with courage.”
