Governor Patrick Morrisey Requests Major Disaster Declaration

CHARLESTON, WV – On Feb 17th, Governor Patrick Morrisey formally requested a Major Disaster Declaration for the state of West Virginia.

“After traveling to southern West Virginia to meet with local officials and assess the damage firsthand, I have asked President Donald Trump for a Major Disaster Declaration,” said Governor Morrisey. “This will help unlock federal resources to support West Virginians hardest hit by the major flooding events of the past few days.”

Governor Morrisey has requested activation of the Individual Assistance (IA) Program and the Public Assistance (PA) Program in counties hardest hit by recent severe weather and flooding, which includes Boone, Cabell, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mercer, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties. Morrisey also asked for assistance from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) statewide.
