From: Colorado Governor Jared Polis

DENVER - Earlier this week, in partnership with DonorsChoose, Governor Polis announced $2.7 million in funding to help Colorado educators purchase resources for their classrooms that will help Colorado students succeed. Today, the Governor and DonorsChoose announced that the window for submissions has closed, with more than 9,000 projects submitted in the first 24 hours. Colorado expects to fund more than 5,000 projects immediately from teachers across Colorado. DonorsChoose expects that many of the remaining projects will be funded through their national network of individual donors and corporate partners.

“Our educators go above and beyond for Colorado students and I’m so excited we are helping ensure that teachers have the learning supplies they need in classrooms across the state. I’m excited about the success of this opportunity and can’t wait to see these classroom materials being used,” said Governor Polis.

Teachers are receiving up to $600 per classroom for things like classroom supplies, technology learning tools, instructional materials, and social or mental health resources for students. This funding builds on last year’s funding, which helped support projects on everything from Literacy & Language, to STEM, and Life Skills for 7,368 teachers and 1,385 schools.

Last month, Governor Polis became chair of the National Governors Association and launched the Let’s Get Ready: Preparing All Americans For Success initiative, which is focused on ensuring students and Americans of all ages have the tools they need to succeed and drive our economic competitiveness.

Coloradans can continue to support teachers and their project through DonorsChoose and teachers can still submit their projects for funding. Colorado teachers can click here to learn more about this opportunity.
