Government and Politics

From: Colorado Governor Jared PolisDENVER - On August 16, 2024, Governor Polis released a statement to celebrate the third anniversary of the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act (IIJA), signed into law by President Biden in November of 2021.
“The Biden-Harris administration’s historic infrastructure investments have fixed our roads and bridges, bolstered our economy, revitalized our communities, and created thousands of clean jobs in the sectors of the future. Today on the three year anniversary of this historic legislation we are closer than ever to a future where passenger rail is a reality for Colorado, our state is powered by clean energy innovation, and our workforce is prepared with the skills they need for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Governor Polis.
Governor Polis was the first Governor in the country to support this bipartisan federal law. Under his leadership, Colorado has created a national example for working with communities across the state to access funding the IIJA, including a technical assistance program to support local governments in accessing funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which has secured tens of millions of dollars for communities across Colorado.
Colorado has been taking advantage of this historic federal funding, pulling down its fair share and more, to strengthen the economy, communities, and future. Since President Biden signed the IIJA into law, a signing ceremony that Governor Polis attended, Colorado has received funding for projects including:
- Installing and replacing EV charging stations
- Connecting Coloradans with reliable high-speed internet
- Securing Colorado’s water future
- Revitalizing our communities by increasing access to open space
- Updating Colorado’s airport runways, terminals, and transit connections
