Governor Polis Signs Bills to Expand Early Childhood Opportunities, Expand Behavioral Health and Substance Use Resources, and Help Coloradans Keep More Hard-Earned Money

HUGO - On June 6, 2024, Governor Polis signed SB24-121 - Licensure of Critical Access Hospitals, sponsored by Senators Rod Pelton and Dylan Roberts and Representatives Mary Young and Richard Holtorf into law at Lincoln Health Community Hospital in Hugo. This law will support rural hospitals and ensure Coloradans have access to the high-quality care they need, no matter where they live. 

“This bipartisan bill is a part of our ongoing work to cut red tape and connect Coloradans to affordable, accessible health care they need to be healthy and thrive. This bipartisan bill makes it easier for our rural hospitals to become licensed, reduces their paperwork costs, and helps ensure rural hospitals can provide high-quality care”, said Governor Polis. 

This afternoon at the Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion, Governor Polis will sign the following bills: 

- SB24-055 - Agricultural & Rural Behavioral Health Care, sponsored by Senators Janice Marchman and Perry Will, and Representatives Meghan Lukens and Anthony Hartsook. 

- HB24-1355- Measures to Reduce the Competency Wait List, sponsored by Representatives Javier Mabrey and Judy Amabile, and Senators Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Bob Gardner. 

- HB24-1045- Treatment for Substance Use Disorders, sponsored by Representatives Ryan Armagost and Chris deGruy Kennedy, and Senators Kyle Mullica and Perry Will. 

- HB24-1009- Bilingual Child Care Licensing Resources, sponsored by Representatives Junie Joseph and Barbara McLachlan and Senators Joann Ginal and Janice Rich. 

- HB24-1268- Financial Assistance for Certain Low-Income Individuals, sponsored by Representatives Mike Weissman and David Ortiz, and Senators Tony Exum and Rhonda Fields. 

- HB24-1142- Reduce Income Tax Social Security Benefits, sponsored by Representatives Richard Holtorf and Junie Joseph, and Senators Faith Winter and Byron Pelton. 

- HB24-1052- Senior Housing Income Tax Credit, sponsored by Representatives Mike Weissman and Bob Marshall, and Senators Chris Kolker and Chris Hansen.
