Each year's New York State Fair showcases numerous animals, hundreds of commercial attractions, scores of exciting midway rides, and dozens of big-name entertainers. you'll have a great time, every time!

August 23, 2023

Chevy Court Concerts

1:00 PM: Chubby Checker

First, Chubby Checker will 'twist again like he did last summer' to kick off the Chevrolet Music Series on Opening Day of the Fair. This will be his fifth performance at The Fair, and second in as many years. While he is best known for "The Twist," the first number one song of all time from the Billboard's Hot 100, he released singles through the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and most recently in the early 2000s.

Experience Stage at Chevy Park Concerts

8:00 PM: Theory of a Deadman

As Theory of a Deadman experiences new life this year with the release of a brand new album, the Canadian rockers are excited to share their new chapter with concertgoers at the Great New York State Fair. The band will bring their signature "riff rock" sound to the Experience Stage.

The multiplatinum band, best known for "RX (Medicine)," "Bad Girlfriend," "Not Meant to Be," and other hits, will release their eighth studio album, Dinosaur, through Roadrunner Records, on March 17. Dinosaur resurrects the rock music that launched the band onto the music scene in 2002, while infusing new energy, as evidenced in the anthemic title track "Dinosaur" that is currently heard on Active Rock radio stations nationwide.

The August 24 appearance will be Theory of a Deadman's third performance at the Great New York State Fair. They played to Chevy Court audiences in 2012 and 2019.

1:00 PM: Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Adventure

Typically, visitors have to check out the Goat, Llama and Swine Barn to interact with pigs at the Great New York State Fair. But, this August, fairgoers will have an opportunity to watch two famous piglets sing and dance on stage too! The North American Tour of Peppa Pig Live! Peppa's Pig's Adventure includes a stop at Chevy Court at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26.

Peppa Pig is the #1 most streamed preschool show for children of any age around the world. Produced by eOne, Hasbro's global entertainment studio, Peppa Pig airs in more than 40 languages. Peppa is considered the "crown jewel" of Nick Jr., and she's a pop star too! Peppa released her first musical album, My First Album, in 2019, followed by Peppa's Adventures: The Album in 2021.

Now, little piggies all around New York State are invited to join Peppa and George on a camping trip with their school friends, Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe. With Daddy Pig driving the bus on the Chevy Court Stage, Peppa and the gang are excited to bring audiences along on their outdoor adventure. The 60-minute live musical experience is packed with plenty of singing, dancing, games and surprises.

8:00 PM: George Thorogood and The Destroyers

George Thorogood and the Destroyers are bringing their "Bad All Over The World - 50 Years of Rock" Tour to the Great New York State Fair. They'll rock the Experience Stage.

Recognized for massive hits including "I Drink Alone," "Gear Jammer," and their biggest anthem, "Bad to the Bone," the rockers are also known for reinventing blues, country and R&B songs popularized by earlier icons including Bo Diddley, John Lee ****** and Hank Williams. This has resulted in a transcending stage presence, allowing the band to connect with fans of a vast age range.

After more than 8,000 performances and 15 million albums sold, George Thorogood admits he still gets a rush when he sees audiences for the first time. When asked recently to describe his favorite career moment, Thorogood said, "My highlight is when I step on that bandstand. The promoters invited us, the audience came to hear us, and we're ready to rock. When the rush of that ends, I'll stop. Until then, every night I play for people can be the biggest night of my life."

1:00 PM: The Prodigals

The Prodigals will return to Chevy Court to play. The band has played venues including Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, and the Las Vegas House of Blues. When they're not on the road, The Prodigals play a legendary quarter-century residency at New York City's iconic Paddy Reilly's Music Bar - the only all-draft Guinness Bar in the country. Following their 2022 performance at The Fair, one review praised the quintet's high-energy and captivating stage presence for catching the attention of passersby, and said they "just crushed Chevy Court." The Prodigals' music has been featured in major film and television scores including a 2008 crime drama starring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell called, "Pride and Glory."

6:00 PM: Matt Stell

Chevy Court Concerts

Country music star and multi-platinum recording artist Matt Stell is joining the 2023 Great New York State Fair's musical line-up.

Country music fans will be familiar with Matt's most popular songs, the twice-platinum "Prayed for You" and the platinum "Everywhere But On," which earned Matt consecutive back-to-back #1 hits in 2019. Matt is only one of eight new artists in the past six years to have achieved this honor. His newest EP, "One of Us," came out last month introducing new tracks that fairgoers will love hearing live.

Matt Stell's performance - like all concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series - is free with admission to the Fair. Admission is $6 for adults and free for those 65 years and older, and 12 years and younger.

1:00 PM:  Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone

Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone will return to Chevy Court to play through their repertoire of hits, including "I'm Henry the VIII I Am," "I'm Into Something Good," and "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter." Their 13th appearance  at the Fair!

8:00 PM: REO Speedwagon

They're "Back on the Road Again." Veteran New York State Fair performers, REO Speedwagon, will "Take it on the Run" to play.

Formed in 1967 and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon's unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. From 1977 to 1989, REO Speedwagon released nine consecutive albums all certified Platinum or higher. The band's landmark Hi Infidelity album, which contained the massive hit singles "Keep On Loving You" and "Take It On the Run," spent 15 weeks in the Number 1 slot in 1980. To date, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums!

Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites.

1:00 PM: Tommy James and the Shondells

Tommy James and the Shondells, who are entering their 51st year in the music business! Chevy Court audiences can look forward to hearing hits including "MONY MONY," "Crystal Blue Persuasion" and "Crimson and Clover". The music of Tommy James and the Shondells have been featured in more than 60 films and 50 television shows, and continue to be covered by artists spanning multiple genres today, including Kelly Clarkson, Billy Joel Armstrong, Carlos Santana, Cher and more.

6:00 PM: Bret Michaels

Chevy Court Concerts

Bret Michaels - the multi-platinum music icon, reality TV superstar and creative entrepreneur - is considered a "cultural touchdown" by entertainment industry leaders. Michaels will make his long-awaited return to the Great New York State Fair.

Hot off the heels of a massive stadium tour with his band Poison, Bret is bringing his big hits and "Parti-Gras" energy back this summer.  His iconic smash hits include "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "Nothin' But A Good Time," "Talk Dirty to Me," his crowd-favorite cover of "Your Mama Don't Dance" and many more. Branded as a celebration of fans, bands and music, the Parti-Gras tour builds on the vibe of Mardi Gras, promising to deliver an "all killer, no filler" night of hit songs.

The August 29 appearance will be Bret's third appearance at the Great New York State Fair. He most recently performed at Chevy Court in 2017 as a solo artist, and rocked the Grandstand with Poison and Cinderella in 2002.

8:00 PM: Tyler Hubbard

Fresh off the release of his highly anticipated debut solo album late last month, Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line has announced he will bring his summer tour to the Great New York State Fair. Keeping with tradition, all concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission.

Hubbard's solo career builds on tremendous success achieved in the last decade in the music industry. Now, one of the most recognizable voices in the industry, Hubbard first "cruised" onto radio waves in 2012 as the lead-singer of the popular, multi-platinum selling duo, Florida Georgia Line (FGL). Hubbard's debut solo song, "5 Foot 9" is his 20th Number One hit, and right now, "Dancin' In The Country" continues to climb the Country Top 30 and Billboard Top 200 music charts.

The upcoming performance is Hubbard's third performance at the Great New York State Fair, and first as a solo artist.

1:00 PM: Danielle Ponder

As Rochester native Danielle Ponder's star continues to rise nationally, the Great New York State Fair looks forward to welcoming the singer-songwriter to the Chevrolet Music Series this summer.

Danielle Ponder is already well known throughout Western New Yok and in the Finger Lakes region. She worked in the Monroe County Public Defender's Office - first as a public defender, then as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion officer - for nearly a decade, while performing regularly throughout Rochester's music scene. While working as a public defender, Danielle also toured Europe, opening for George Clinton. In 2018, she decided to pursue music fulltime. Now, as Danielle steps into the national spotlight with her debut album, "Some of Us Are Brave" (released in September 2022), her unique sound - a mix of pop, R&B, blues, rock and soul - is infiltrating radio stations across the country. NPR has described her music as "anthemic while compassionate; soulful, while bold and strong."

6:00 PM: Chapel Hart

You may have rooted for this trio to win America's Got Talent (AGT) last summer… Now, you can cheer them on while watching from Chevy Court!

In 17 seasons of AGT, Chapel Hart was only the second group to win the golden buzzer. The country trio dazzled judges and earned millions of fans after performing "You Can Have Him Jolene," which was recognized as "International Song of the Year" in Scotland in 2021.

Known for their three-part harmonies, sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and their cousin, Trea Swindle, have sung together since they were children. Their sophomore album, "The Girls Are Back in Town," delivers a blend of powerful ballads and music to dance to and has been recognized as "Album of the Year" at the British County Music Awards.

The trio was inducted into CMT's Next Women of Country, which has helped to catapult the careers of Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBride and Gabby Barrett. Internationally known artists are taking note of Chapel Hart's rising star too, as evidenced in Darius Rucker recruiting Chapel Hart to sing on his next album!

12:00 PM: The High Kings

Meanwhile, The High Kings are celebrating 15 years together this year by releasing 15 new songs and embarking on a 27-date-tour of the United States. The quartet surpassed one million listeners on Spotify last year, with hits including "Irish Pub Song," "The Rocky Road to Dublin," and "Galway Girl" counted among their most-listened-to songs.
