From: Groton Public LibraryANNOUNCING THE ONE BOOK ONE REGION 2023 SELECTION
The One Book One Region committee is excited to announce the 2023 selection, What the Eyes Don't See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City by Mona Hanna-Attisha. Celebrate 21 years of excellent books and community discussion by reading along with us!
Here is the inspiring story of how Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, alongside a team of researchers, parents, friends, and community leaders, discovered that the children of Flint, Michigan, were being exposed to lead in their tap water—and then battled her own government and a brutal backlash to expose that truth to the world.
The kickoff for this year's One Book One Region read will be held at UConn Avery Point's beautiful Branford House on Wednesday, July 12, with a reception at 6 p.m. and an official program from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Book discussions and programs are planned at libraries throughout the summer, culminating in the finale on September 20 at Connecticut College. Learn more at onebookoneregion.org.
