We are excited to kick off the 28th NJ High School Student Choral Composition Contest.

To encourage young composers and keep the choral arts vibrant, Harmonium Choral Society invites NJ high school students to submit a new choral work to its 28th annual Choral Composition Contest.

March 16, 2025 deadline. 

Poems & Text

Create a new four-part choral composition on the theme “Dreamers” using one of the poems provided .

“These poems by local students, adults and published poets celebrate the immigrant experience or dream of a better world. Have a look and get inspired!”

Your SATB work can be in any style or genre, a cappella or with piano accompaniment and should be under 5 minutes long. Registration is Free

Guidelines

The guidelines will give you details of the requirements as well as insights as to how the judges will evaluate your composition. Each entry will receive constructive feedback from a panel of judges.

Free Registration

The winner earns a $1,000 prize and a premiere performance of their work by Harmonium on June 7 and 8, 2025.  There are prizes for second and third place too.
