Join us for the third annual celebration of Wampanoag culture at Heritage! This fun-filled day will feature a performance by the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers of Eastern social songs and dances (with audience participation encouraged!) from 11-11:45 am; hands-on demonstrations of artifacts, historic tools, and clay bead making; a corn husk doll making activity; and a pop-up market with artisan vendors, including Ockway Bay Wampum. Explore the wetu, a reproduction of a historic dwelling, and the Three Sisters demonstration garden, and learn more from Indigenous Interpreter Taylor Stasis, a member of the Herring Pond Wampanoag tribe. This event also features the debut of an exciting new feature - a mush8n, or dug-out canoe! Watch live burning demonstrations and learn more from our exhibit and event partners, SmokeSygnals. All activities are free with museum admission or membership.
