Friday, June 23
10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Abigail Patterson – Basic Brioche Knitting in the Round
Teacher: Abigail Patterson

Description: Brioche knitting can be fun! This class will help knitters learn how to brioche knit seamlessly in the round while knitting a basic headband or hat.
Ages: 16+
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lily Chin – Crochet Tips, Tricks and Hints

Cost: $65
Description: Learn all the little secrets to make crocheting life easier and better. Find out how to work a foundation chain that is not too tight. Join a new skein of yarn or a new color without losing that first stitch. See ways of attaching buttons as you work. Create invisible circular joins where the beginning and end are absolutely imperceptible. Weave in those little ends that are too short to put through a darning needle.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lesley Anne Robinson – Textural Brioche

Description: Look at knitting a bit differently by exploring different textures created by brioche techniques! In this class, we will dive into several distinct stitch patterns using one, two, and even three color brioche knitting. Together we will look at color choices, and cast on a swatch to practice these new stitches. Consider this a special workshop to broaden your brioche horizons!
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Marla Morris – Embroider Your Knitting
Teacher: Marla Morris

Description: Join us for an introduction to using embroidery stitches to embellish your knitting. I will guide you through duplicate stitch (handy for fixing or replicating intarsia), a variety of “straight” stitches, chained stitches, French knot, and other decorative stitches.
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Lily Chin – Easy Effective Edgings

Description: Have problems trimming your projects without puckers or ripples? Want more ideas for some trims? Trims put a “frame” around any project so this finishing touch is that final touch that can take something from home-made to hand-made. Get the skinny on some interesting, new and different ways to dress up all kinds of crochet. There are no need to go through contortions for fancy-schmancy intricacies that can overwhelm a project. There is no need for really large stitch multiples for huge pattern repeats. These are fun and simple yet accessible.
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Lesley Anne Robinson – Current Mood Shawl

Materials fee provides a copy of the Current Mood shawl pattern.
Description: Learn how to knit Current Mood shawl, designed by Lesley Anne Robinson! No matter your mood, make this shawl your own. The repetitive stripes of ripples, garter stitch and two-color brioche in this rectangular shawl are knit on the bias, creating beautiful angles of waves, color and texture. In the first part of the class, you will learn how to knit the Ripple Stripes, which include knitting, purling, yarn overs and knitting decreases. In the second part of the class, we will go over the Two-Color Brioche Stripes! This is a fabulous pattern if you are a first-time briocher, or are a beginner briocher wanting to expand your knowledge.

Lily Chin – The Savvy Pick-Up

Description: Many knitters have trouble picking up stitches from an existing knit piece. How many stitches do you pick up? Where do you pick up from? Learn simple solutions for easing around curves. Make smoother transitions from cast on edges. See how picking up stitches ahead of time can even aid seaming! Even get an idea for creative uses of picking up after the fact within the fabric.
10:30 am – 6:00 pm; Gavriella Treminio – Designing 101
Teacher: Gavriella Treminio

Description: If you are ready to take your fiber skills to the next level, join Gavriella for this 2 part course where you will learn the basics to designing your first pattern. You will be able to turn your swatch into a beautiful pattern that others can follow and make from. This course requires previous experience in knitting or crochet so please be mindful that you will not learn how to knit or crochet but instead learn the process of pattern writing from swatch to finish.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Marla Morris – Intro to Cable Knitting
Teacher: Marla Morris

Description: This introduction to cables is designed for fairly new knitters who can knit and purl and are ready to increase their skills. I will present a variety of cable stitches, their uses, cable needles, and descriptions. We will look at a chart and a written pattern for the same sample, learn how cable stitches appear on the chart, how they are used in patterns, then how to make them—with and without a cable needle. A Powerpoint presentation and pattern are part of this class, originally designed for a knitting guild. The sample knit in class provides a swatch for the resulting wrister. We will look at ways to easily fix mistakes, and use the swatch to decide which wrister size you should start.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lesley Anne Robinson – Brioche Increases and Decreases

Description: In this class, you will learn the most commonly used two-color brioche increases and decreases needed to create gorgeous brioche lace fabric that will delight and inspire! We will briefly go over basic two-color brioche for a refresher, as well as how to choose the right yarn for your projects! We will be going over the increase and decrease stitches in detail together, while casting on a two-color brioche swatch. Let’s get brioche-ing!!
1:45 pm – 4:45 pm: Marti Swanson – Needle Felt Story Dolls
Cost: $70 + $15 materials fee = $85
Materials fee provides foam, needles, wool, locks, nepps and other embellishments to complete the story dolls.
Description: Inspired by the traditional Waldorf doll (also called Steiner doll) these needle felted dolls are simple in detail allowing the imagination to be the story teller. Easy beginners class to learn the basic techniques of needle felting including building a solid core, working on an armature and working with finish details.
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Lesley Anne Robinson – Fixing & Finishing Brioche
Cost: $65
Description: Gain confidence with your brioche knitting by learning how to fix mistakes, pick up dropped stitches, place lifelines, and add those finishing touches to your brioche projects! Feel free to bring any of your brioche projects you might want to fix or finish, or you can sit back and treat this as a lecture!
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm: Melissa Shupak – Drop Spinning 101
Cost: $25 + $15 materials fee = $40
Materials fee provides a top whorl drop spindle and 2oz of fiber.
Description: This is a beginner level introduction into drop spinning. Learn how to spin your own yarn! You will learn basic vocabulary, how to prepare your materials, how to spin and then ply, with time for practice and questions. The skills learned in drop spinning are a great first step to learning to use a spinning wheel. This is a practical hands-on class with instruction and practice time. Purchase of a drop spindle and practice fiber are included in the materials fee, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Designing in a Sea of Designers: There is room for all of us!
Cost: $10
Description: Lesley Anne Robinson, the designer behind Knit Graffiti Designs, will be talking about what it means to be a knitting pattern designer in the age of digital access, Ravelry, publications, and so much more! Lesley will talk about her own journey into designing, how she got started, and how she went from designing in her tiny living room with absolutely no yarn budget to becoming a published author. Lesley will also talk about a day in the life of a knitwear designer, what it takes to get started designing and teaching, being your own boss, and answer any questions you might have about what it’s like to design and teach what she loves.

Lesley Anne Robinson – Designing with Brioche
Cost: $130
Description: Have you been knitting brioche for awhile, but have some ideas of your own that you’d like to explore? Wondering how to take all those ideas and turn them into a reality? In this class, we will be exploring how to use brioche increases and decreases to create unique, one-of-a-kind, never before seen stitch patterns that will be your very own! We will even briefly go over how to apply these new stitch patterns to garments and accessories using specific shaping techniques to create beautifully breath-taking designs!
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lily Chin – Reversible Cables
Cost: $65
Description: Simple to execute, cables are almost always worked over stockinette stitch thereby producing a “wrong” side. This is not particularly attractive on a scarf or shawl or afghan where the “wrong side” will be in full view of the public. In this class, learn how cables work, which stitches, yarns and needles are ideal for these reversible cables, and how to chart them so you’ll know what you’ll be getting beforehand. By the end of this class, you will have a sampler of reversible cables plus enough ideas to keep you in stitches for a long, long time.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Gavriella Treminio – Crochet for Knitters
Cost: $65
Description: You will learn the basics stitches of crochet! In this class you will create your first granny square that combines the stitches you will learn. You will leave feeling accomplished and satisfied with your new crochet skills to make everything from garments to blankets in the future.
10:30 am – 1:30 pm: Patricia Vela – Two at a Time Toe-Up Socks
Cost: $80
Description: Using the Magic Loop Technique, learn to knit socks two at a time from the toe up. No more second sock syndrome and ensure that both your socks turn out identical. The class will show you how to manage your yarn, cast on both socks at the same time, work the heels and give your socks a nice stretchy bind off. We will be using worsted weight yarn in order to move as quickly as possible through the sock and learn the techniques you can apply to any sock.
1:45 pm – 4:45 pm: Kyla Crawford – Sketch Loom Jewelry
Cost: $70 + $10 materials fee = $80
Materials fee provides yarn, beads, buttons, chain, findings, pliers, and a handout. Sketch looms will be available for use in class.
Description: Learn the basics of weaving a Sketch Loom frame loom and make light weight eye catching jewelry. In this class we will create a pendant while learning how to weave on a frame loom, from start to finish. This is a great way to try weaving and use those tiny scraps of yarn that we just can’t throw out.
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Lily Chin – Join as You Go Knitting
Cost: $65
Description: Most knitters avoid seaming like the plague. When working garment pieces or different colored strips, sewing seams daunting. Learn how to join as you go for many situations, including edgings. Join a new piece to the left of an existing piece, to the right of an existing piece, or to the top or bottom of an existing piece. The bonus is that this join will be much less bulky than a traditional seam.

Description: Have you ever wanted to create your own stitch markers for your knitting projects? They are the perfect way to add a little charm to your projects and can be made in your own personal style. Join Gavriella in making polymer clay stitch markers and progress keepers that you can take home the same day! You will leave this class with new clay shaping skills to make everything from charms to earrings. This class includes the materials you will need to create 1 of 4 designs that will be provided as a starting point for your clay adventures.
