The City of Palm Springs Historic Site Preservation Board (HSPB) is pleased to announce it will present two important historic preservation awards at its 9th annual Preservation Matters Symposium, April 29 & 30 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The prestigious awards will be presented by Mayor Grace Garner and Mayor pro tem Jeffrey Bernstein on Sunday, April 30. The first award will be presented to the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation Board of Directors, who will be recognized with a Certificate of Recognition for their incredible efforts organizing and raising funds for the comprehensive restoration of the beloved 1936 Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs. The Foundation is in its final stages working to raise the needed $16 million for the theater restoration.
The second award will be given to Barbara and Ron Marshall, two hard-working individuals who will be recognized with the Preservation Matters Award for their long-time passion, successful advocacy efforts, and dedication to historic preservation through their service to the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation.
