House Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris snuck out a back door to avoid 250+ protestors
Hundreds of Marylanders gathered outside of a fundraiser hosted by Rep. Andy Harris yesterday to protest the House Freedom Caucus Chair’s refusal to speak out against Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda. Rather than engage with his constituents, Harris snuck out a back door.
State officials anticipate 29,000 Marylanders will lose their jobs under Trump’s plans to fire federal workers.

The Star Democrat: Hundreds Protest Rep. Harris, Trump Outside Tidewater Inn in Easton

March 7, 2025
- Hundreds lined Dover and Harrison streets Thursday evening, protesting Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md., 1st) and the Trump administration outside a fundraiser hosted by Harris at the Tidewater Inn.
- They repeated chants of “Andy Harris has got to go” and “fire Andy Harris.” Some called for the congressman, who represents the Eastern Shore of Maryland, to host a town hall.
- Phil Jackson, chair of the Talbot Democratic Central Committee, said Harris is “absolutely failing to represent Talbot County.”
- “Andy Harris has historically done very little for the Eastern Shore,” Jackson said. “… I think this is indicative of a very strong desire for new leadership.”
- Among the president’s agenda items raised by protesters Thursday was the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk and mass firings of federal workers. Many of the more than 300 protesters held signs opposing DOGE.
- “I think folks have had enough with the current administration and the overreach and behavior we’re seeing right now,” Jackson said.
- The crowd of hundreds loudly cheered as cars drove by and honked in support of the protest.
- Jackson was pleased with the large turnout and says the protest was a “tipping point.”
- “It’s really reached an egregious point,” Jackson said. “And I think people are really upset about it.”
