With Donald Trump signing blanket tariffs that will ensure American families – not corporations – pay higher prices, Idaho Democratic Party Rural Caucus Chair Sally Toone released the following statement:

“Donald Trump’s reckless tariff policies mean Idahoans will pay more at the grocery store, gas pump, and for everyday essentials. His billionaire backers may not care, but Idaho families will feel the pain. Working families, farmers, and ranchers across our state will bear the brunt of his disastrous decisions. Lower demand for Idaho’s agricultural products and skyrocketing costs for necessities will hurt our communities, all because Trump is playing politics with the economy. These tariffs are nothing more than a tax on hardworking families, one Idahoans can’t afford.”
