Chicago, IL — After Law & Order PAC and the Northwest Side GOP Club welcomed Tom Homan, Donald Trump’s ‘border czar’ nominee and an architect of Trump’s cruel family separation policy, to Chicago, the Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:

“For months leading up to the election, Donald Trump, the Illinois GOP and national Republicans distanced themselves from Project 2025. As we expected, they have cracked open that draconian playbook to prepare plans for mass deportations and elevate its architects like Tom Homan. And just last night, the IL GOP welcomed Homan to Chicago, who doubled down on family separations and threatened to subvert local jurisdictions.”

“Tom Homan plans to implement a cruel agenda to rip children away from their parents, violate the Constitution by undermining birthright citizenship, and divert funds from the military to round up people into detention and deportation camps. Homan was an architect of Trump’s inhumane family separation policy during his first term, and in choosing this Project 2025-tied loyalist to lead border policy once more, Trump is giving Homan the go-ahead to implement all of the cruel policies laid out in the right-wing playbook.”
