The invention of myth is an online survey of available works drawn from the established 35 year career of Luis González Palma. This artist’s survey exhibition also celebrates the gallery’s role as primary US dealer. The contemporary Latin American Artist first appeared on the radar of photography galleries in the late 1980's with work that address the difficult histories of his home countries. Experimental even in the early phases of exploration, later work retains early concerns but is far evolved. González Palma's practice often relies on photo/lens-based processes, but his practice is more diverse. This exhibition traces and tracks the space between the known and the unknown.
Artworks presented in this online exhibition were made between 1989 - 2021. The set samples from major movements and materials/processes, but does not exhaust them. This show underscores an arch of work while signaling ongoing intention and new directions. Each artwork embodies outstanding qualities. With retrospect, we can say these artworks proof evolution. Each is an anchor point in a career that has now reached full stride.
