John Kava Selected as the Bradshaw-Chino Valley Deputy District Ranger for the Prescott National

PRESCOTT, AZ – The Prescott National Forest is happy to announce that John Kava will be the new Bradshaw-Chino Valley Deputy District Ranger effective April 24, 2023. 

John was the Range Staff Officer for the Bradshaw and Chino Valley Ranger District on the Prescott National Forest for the last 10 years—overseeing the range program on both districts.  John completed a detail assignment as the Deputy District Ranger on the Bradshaw-Chino Valley District before being selected for the position. His experience includes two Range Program Manager details on the Carson NF in 2018, and on the Dakota Prairie Grasslands 2021.

Prior to the Forest Service he worked for Arizona Department of Transportation (2006-2008), University of Arizona, V Bar V Ranch as a research specialist, (2008-2011), and Natural Resources Conservation Service, as a conservation planner for rangelands (2011-2013).

John started his Natural Resource Management path by attending North Dakota State University after serving 20 years in the US Air Force. He studied rangeland ecology and weed science and received a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management in 2003.

John and his wife Wendy have been residents of Prescott since 2006, enjoying all Arizona has to offer. They are active members of Quad City Christian Church, have three adult children, and 8 grandchildren.
