Kemp Is Standing Idly By As Trump Slashes Georgians’ Teacher Pay and Research Jobs

Government and Politics

Once again, Governor Brian Kemp refuses to stand up for Georgians as Trump slashes pay for the Peach State’s public school teachers and wipes out research jobs.

Here are the facts: Trump’s most recent cuts to the Department of Education wiped out $365,000 in wages and stipends that were already promised to more than 100 Atlanta public school teachers and eliminated research grants that are supporting dozens of jobs at universities across the state.

Kemp has repeatedly defended Trump’s other reckless funding cuts that are devastating Georgia – even saying of Trump’s mass layoffs at the CDC, “government can stand a little rightsizing.”

“Donald Trump just slashed the pay of more than a hundred teachers in Georgia while Brian Kemp once again stood idly by,” said DPG spokesperson Alex Yerkey. “Kemp’s craven refusal to stand up to Trump is costing Georgians their jobs and livelihoods.”

Kemp’s refusal to stand up to Trump’s devastating agenda has jeopardized everything from cancer research to cardiac care for veterans. The governor has been silent as Trump’s cuts also threaten nearly 12,000 jobs across Georgia.
