Schools and Libraries
March 1, 2023
From: LeRoy Collins Leon County Public LibraryMessage from Library Director Pamela Monroe
We are entering one of my favorite times of the year: SPRING! Don't be surprised if you see me at the Eastside Branch Library in a hammock with a book because it’s prime romance novel season.
The staff at the Library has been working really hard to develop great programming for you this month. If you haven't already, make sure you pick up your seeds from your local branch. The Seed Library is in its eighth year and going strong. I am going to try my hand (again) at growing tomatoes and cucumbers this year and hope my garden will produce at least one salad's worth of vegetables.
You can still work on your "New Year, New You" fitness goal by participating in our free community yoga at the Eastside Branch Library and Main Library. As a yoga student for over 25 years (because mastery is impossible), I guarantee that you will walk away in a tranquil and uplifted mood.
Grab your acoustic guitar and head over to the Ft. Braden Branch Library for their Community Music Jam session on the third Thursday of every month. No formal lessons are required. The jam session is an opportunity to meet other musicians and connect. Hopefully, you will walk away with some sweet new tunes and maybe even a book or two.
My teacher roots won't let me forget to direct you to our Women's History Month page. Take a moment to learn something new about the women who have told our stories and helped shape history.
Amazing things are happening!
Pamela Monroe, Library Director
March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in history, culture, and society with an exhibit, thematic book lists, and so much more. Throughout the month and all year long, learn something new about the women and events that shaped history through our library resources.
