The Maine Democratic Party (MDP) is proud to announce the election of Charlie Dingman as its new Chair and Imke Schessler-Jandreau as Vice Chair. Elected by the Maine Democratic State Committee, this new leadership team is committed to strengthening unity across the Party and reaching voters in every corner of the state.
Dingman, of Leeds, in addition to his legal practice, has been deeply involved in Maine’s community and politics for decades, serving on the Board of Maine Equal Justice Partners and chairing key committees for the Maine Democratic Party and the Justice Action Group. With a commitment to collaboration and public service, Charlie is dedicated to ensuring a clear, compelling message that resonates with all Mainers.
“In my short campaign for this position I’ve been amazed at the variety and depth of experience of the activists in our party, including the other gifted candidates for leadership positions,” said Dingman. “This is a challenging moment for all of us in the party of Maine’s working people, as our new national regime serves the interests of the very few who are wealthy enough not to do their own work, and pursues its agenda without a care for those most vulnerable to their cruelty. They want to confuse and distract working people by turning us against each other. I believe Maine Democrats spoke loudly and clearly today that we will counter that toxic agenda with all our strength, reaching out to those in our rural and urban communities alike to reconnect with the disillusioned and expand our mission of fairness and opportunity for everyone.”
Imke Schessler-Jandreau of Bangor, elected as Vice Chair, will work alongside Dingman to expand outreach efforts and ensure every voice in every community across the state is heard and represented. Schlesser-Jandreau has a background as a communications professional and a passion for making Maine a better place for all.
“We have an incredible opportunity to rebrand the party, lean into our values, and bring people together. By listening to Mainers who have felt unheard for too long we will build strong grassroots campaigns that unite all corners of the state. I’m excited to work alongside our Chair and Democrats across Maine to make a real difference in every community,” said Schessler-Jandreau.
The Maine Democratic Party enters this new election cycle ready to build on its strengths, mobilize volunteers, and prepare for upcoming elections. The leadership team aims to connect with voters through a shared vision of progress and meaningful action.
The Party extends its gratitude to outgoing Chair Bev Uhlenhake and Vice Chair Julian Rogers for their dedication and service, which have paved the way for continued success.
