Calling All Local Artists For the Friends of the Library’s 1st Falling For Art Exhibit and Sale, October 20-22, 2023 

Artists and photographers are invited to submit up to 5 digital jpeg images by August 30 to [email protected]. Include your name, title of the piece and price. 50% of proceeds benefit the Friends of the Manchester Library.

FBI's Behavioral Analysis with Special Agent Julia Cowley (Virtual)
TUESDAY, AUGUST 22 AT 7:00—8:00PM

Join Special Agent Julia Cowley for a look inside FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. Cowley will discuss how and why she became an FBI profiler, what profiling is (and isn’t), and some of the most memorable cases in her career. Cowley is currently an adjunct professor at Bay Path University and serves as co-host on the podcast "The Consult."

Cowley has been a Special Agent with the FBI since 1999. Her first assignment was to the Boston Division where she investigated white-collar crime, public corruption, and civil rights matters. She was also a member and team leader on the Boston Division's Evidence Response Team. Julia was then selected to join the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, followed by assignment to the Evidence Response Team Unit. Julia is currently assigned to the Boston Division's Springfield office where she focuses on public corruption and civil rights investigations. Prior to joining the FBI, Julia was a Special Agent/Forensic Scientist with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. She has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Oregon and a master's degree in forensic science from The George Washington University. She is certified in Behavioral Analysis by the FBI and was the lead FBI profiler on the Golden State Killer case.

Meet Bestselling Authors Lisa Jackson & Nancy Bush (Virtual)
MONDAY, AUGUST 28 AT 7:00—8:00PM

Bestselling authors (and sisters!) Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush will discuss their latest books in this ZOOM webinar. Jackson will discuss The Last Sinner, a gripping novel of suspense featuring two veteran homicide detectives matching wits with a twisted serial killer lurking in the shadows of New Orleans. Bush will discuss The Camp, a chilling novel of suspense where a diabolical modern twist on Friday the 13th meets Yellowjackets at a summer sleepaway camp isolated in the woods of Oregon.

All Ages Author Chat with Middle Grade Author Deke Moulton (Virtual)
TUESDAY, AUGUST 29 AT 5:00—6:00PM

Join us for a Zoom discussion with debut author Deke Moulton as we celebrate the release of their first book, Don't Want To Be Your Monster, a middle grade book about two vampire brothers, who must set aside their differences to solve a series of murders. We'll be chatting about how this book adds to vampire mythos and much more! While this is a middle grade book, all patrons interested are welcome and encouraged to attend! There will be an audience Q&A towards the end of the program.

About the author: Deke Moulton (she/they) is the author of DON’T WANT TO BE YOUR MONSTER and the upcoming BENJI ZEB IS A RAVENOUS WEREWOLF (Tundra Books), both books re-examinations of monster myths (vampires and werewolves, respectively) through a Jewish lens. Deke (short for Dikla) grew up in Chicago and worked behind the scenes as an apprentice book conservator at the Adler Planetarium before enlisting in the United States Army. Their time in service gave them invaluable experiences, like living in Italy for three years, studying Arabic at the Defense Language Institute, and even yelling at people professionally as a drill sergeant. Deke now lives in the Pacific Northwest, where cozy vibes and drizzly skies influence their current work.

Zero Waste for Parents & Kids (Virtual)

We learned so much from Sarah last time she was with us, we just had to have her back! This time, we'll dig into practical tips to make your children's birthday parties and school lunches eco-friendly and low waste. We'll also be discussing how kids, families, and communities can be more sustainable as some towns/cities/states move towards free lunches for all. All ages are welcome!
