Bellevue -Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP) Chairman Jim Walsh is delighted to announce that Mathew Patrick Thomas (MPT) will resume his role as Finance Committee Chair, beginning immediately.

The WAGOP hasn’t had a Finance Committee or a Finance Committee Chair since MPT stepped down from the position several years ago to become Chair of the King County GOP. MPT served as Finance Committee Chair from 2014 to 2022. He served under WAGOP Chairs Susan Hutchison and Caleb Heimlich.

“This agreement is truly a continuation of him serving in the position. When he was WAGOP Finance Chair, MPT did an excellent job and was an invaluable asset to the Party,” says Chairman Jim Walsh.

As WAGOP’s National Committeeman to the Republican National Committee (RNC), MPT will be serving the Party in two capacities-fulfilling Benjamin Franklin’s adage: “When you want something done, ask a busy person.”

In his role as a Finance Committee Chair, MPT will seek out a limited number of individuals to join the re-constituted WAGOP Finance Committee. The Committee will advise and assist the chairman’s efforts in fundraising strategies and various projects for the purpose of winning elections.

“It’s an incredible honor to rejoin the Washington State Republican Party as Finance Chairman. After nearly three years as Chair of King County GOP, where I led a team that raised over $1 million to rescue and reinvigorate our state’s largest county party, I’m ready to bring that same energy and success to the state level,” says MPT, enthusiastically. “Together, we will secure the resources needed to advance Republican values for a brighter future for Washington State! HERE WE GO!!!”

“MPT has a proven track record of success in building Party structure and raising the money needed to win elections in swing districts,” says Chairman Walsh. “I’ve known Mathew for decades. We’ve both been working to improve the Republican brand in Washington. With MPT ‘coming home’ to this essential role-building coalitions and resources for the WAGOP-I believe the State Party will show good results in 2025, 2026 and beyond.”
