MERKLEY, SCHUMER, MURRAY, PETERS, SCHATZ TO LEAD SENATE DEMOCRATS IN HOLDING SENATE FLOOR ALL NIGHT TO OPPOSE NOMINATION OF RIGHT-WING AUTHOR OF PROJECT 2025 TO LEAD BUDGET, MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Washington - Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Gary Peters (D-MI), and Brian Schatz (D-HI) today will lead Senate Democrats in holding the Senate floor to oppose the nomination of Russell Vought, the right-wing author of Project 2025, to be Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

As the architect of the radical Project 2025, Vought’s proposals to slash federal funding will threaten Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Vought will also continue to carry out President Donald Trump’s illegal federal funding cuts, stopping taxpayer dollars from supporting local schools, police departments, community health centers, food pantries, firefighters, and other vital programs.
