Dear Friends:

Happy New Year! As we rapidly move into 2023, we hope that your new expectations and goals are achieved with good health and peace. Much to our regret, we have to postpone the production of Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor, which was originally scheduled for March 18 and 19. The new scheduled dates are July 1 and 2 at the Moss Center (formerly South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center).

We proudly announce the appearance of Eglise Gutierrez in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor. This extraordinary coloratura soprano has successfully performed the role in numerous prestigious opera houses around the world. We anticipate the portrayal of Lord Enrico (Lucia’s brother) as performed by the distinguished baritone Nelson Martinez, the Metropolitan artist well known by our public in past productions. Additional cast members will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Also forthcoming will be the announcement of details regarding upcoming productions for 2023. Needless to say, we are still suffering the effects of the pandemic and its financial consequences. Despite this disadvantage, we face the future with hope and great anticipation. We continue to work with enthusiasm as we continue to offer authentic opera to our community at accessible prices. More than ever, your support is very important. Please be generous with your donations, spreading the word about MLO and attending our performances.

Sincerely,

Raffaele Cardone
