As House Republicans skip out on their jobs as the legislative sessions end, it begs the question: how often have they abandoned Michiganders?

LANSING — With the coming close of the legislative session in the state legislature, Michigan House Republicans have refused to engage with their fellow Democratic lawmakers to help Michiganders and last week decided to walk out of the House legislative session with the entire Republican caucus. This partisan temper tantrum is the latest in a long line of disturbing behavior from the Michigan Republicans in the House, led by “leader” Matt Hall. 

“House Republicans have voted no or been absent over 32,000 times in this session,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Time and again, they have refused to come to the table and work with Democrats to solve the problems facing Michiganders.

“Rather than doing the bare minimum and showing up for work like Michiganders do every day, Republicans are once again insulting taxpayers and not committing to doing their jobs. Make no mistake, Michiganders deserve better.”

After walking away from their jobs last week, the question remains as to whether they’ll show up this week, leaving millions of Michiganders unsure if they’re paying their representatives to sit on their hands.
