Mike Collins’ Constituents Blast Him For Ducking Town Halls

Government and Politics

March 11, 2025

Georgia Republican Congressman Mike Collins is facing harsh criticism today for continuing to ignore constituent invitations to attend a town hall next week in Morgan County. According to new reporting, Collins has not only failed to respond to multiple town hall invitations, he’s also ignored meeting requests, petitions signed by hundreds of constituents, and rallies outside his office asking for updates on federal policy.

“Mike Collins, who would prefer to hide behind his phone posting memes on Twitter at all hours, continues avoiding his constituents because he can’t defend his do-nothing record,” said DPG spokesperson Alex Yerkey. “It’s hard to see how Mike Collins hopes to adequately represent his constituents without ever actually showing up and listening to them.”

Despite claiming he’d continue to hold town halls even after his fellow Georgia Republican Rich McCormick’s disastrous February 20th town hall in Roswell, Collins’ official Congressional website currently lists no public events scheduled.

The National Republican Campaign Committee, fearful of negative public feedback about their agenda, implemented a “McCormick Rule” prohibiting their incumbents from holding town hall events after Georgia Congressman Rich McCormick’s Roswell town hall performance met with strong constituent backlash. At that event, McCormick received a hostile reception from event attendees upset about mass firings of federal workers and Republican plans to drastically cut programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
