PERFORMER ANNOUNCEMENTS
We are thrilled to announce three performers for the
32nd Annual Millpond Music Festival!
Check out the current lineup for the '24 fest here.
NIKKA COSTA
SATURDAY NIGHT CLOSER
Nikka Costa embodies the essence of music in her very being. With a string of critically-acclaimed albums, Nikka emerged as a luminary in the “nu-soul” landscape, renowned for her signature blend of American soul, funk, and rock. Known for the raw magnetism of her live performances, Nikka commands the stage with a presence likened to the greats - from Janis Joplin’s fervor to Chaka Khan’s soulful swagger to Sly Stone’s electrifying energy. Beyond her prowess as a performer, Nikka’s songwriting skills have left an indelible mark, crafting compositions for and learning from icons like Prince.
After a hiatus of six years, Nikka has made her triumphant return with “Dirty Disco,” an electrifying fusion of funk and disco produced with her longtime collaborator Justin Stanley that released on June 7th. Nikka Costa is primed to ignite stages and hearts alike with her infectious rhythm and soulful spirit.
RAINBOW GIRLS
SUNDAY NIGHT CLOSER
“A gang of sweet angels punching you in the heart.”
Our always prudent advice? Plan on staying all day Sunday, and heck, maybe even take Monday off! You won't want to miss Rainbow Girls!
We aren't kidding.
SAGE ROMERO & AKAMYA
AkaMya was formed in 1997 by young people wanting positive outlets in the community. The group started small and developed into a weekly dance group that performed at community events. As role models to the youth, AkaMya dedicates itself to encouraging a lifestyle of wellness and sobriety. Through action and example, we live our lives in a good way so that the youth see Native adults in their community that are strong and dedicated to the culture, traditions, people, and teachings of our ancestors.
Sage Romero of AkaMya will conduct a land acknowledgement at the start of the festival on Friday, September 20th. AkaMya will also perform Sunday morning - our favorite way to start the last day of the festival!
