ST PAUL – The Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement after last night’s (Feb 25th) vote by House Republicans – with support from every Republican in the Minnesota delegation – to pass a budget reconciliation bill that would gut Medicaid and SNAP, ripping health insurance and food away from thousands of Minnesotans.

“By voting to kick thousands of working-class Minnesotans off their health insurance and make it harder for them to afford food, Minnesota Republicans are showing their true colors,” said Minnesota DFL Executive Director Heidi Kraus Kaplan. “It’s clear that Minnesota Republicans are going to rubberstamp Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s plan to finance massive tax giveaways for the ultra-wealthy at the expense of Minnesota’s working families. The Minnesota DFL will show up to hold them accountable – every Republican candidate running for Senate, Governor, Congress and the Legislature will have to answer for whether and why they support these cuts.”

The reconciliation bill passed by a razor thin 217-215 margin – without the support of Reps. Pete Stauber, Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach, and Brad Finstad, the bill would not have passed.
