Gunn Memorial Library, Burnham Library and Minor Memorial Library are collaborating on a workshop series this January with seasoned choice coach, entrepreneur, author, and speaker Kim DeYoung on navigating life’s choices with intention and insight. This 4-week workshop is designed to empower participants to navigate life’s decisions with heightened consciousness, confidence, and clarity. It’s a journey aimed at reshaping the approach to choices, whether they are monumental or mundane, personal or professional.

This workshop will take place over the course of 4 weeks with the following dates and locations:
- Tuesday, January 9 at 6pm at Gunn Memorial Library– We’ll begin by exploring the foundational concepts of making choices and understanding how every decision we make shapes our lives and identities. We’ll discuss how to align our decisions with our core values and desires, fostering a life of intentionality and fulfillment.
- Tuesday, January 16 at 6pm at Minor Memorial Library– We’ll introduce Choice Mapping, an innovative process to visually organize our thoughts and feelings about the decisions we’re facing.
- Tuesday, January 23 at 6pm at Burnham Library– We’ll concentrate on the significant choices we make in our personal, professional, and relational lives.
- Tuesday, January 30 at 6pm at Gunn Memorial Library– This concluding session focuses on healing, allowing us to perceive our past with renewed perspective and approach future choices with enhanced clarity and wisdom.
Art Opening Reception: Kim Tester

Plein Air with a Twist: Oil and Chalk Pastel Drawings
Kim Tester has had a long career in the arts, as an artist and as an arts educator. Her screen prints and drawings have been exhibited across the country and abroad. Her works are in public and private collections in the USA and Japan. Retiring in June 2021 as Chair of Visual and Performing Arts at Canterbury School in New Milford, CT, she is now learning to live in the moment, focusing her attention on interpretive plein air oil and chalk pastel drawings.
Voices of Poetry
Saturday, January 20th

Ring in the New Year with an afternoon of great poetry & music, featuring poetry by:
Barb Fulton Jennes—former Poet Laureate of Ridgefield, CT & winner of the 2022 International Book Award for a poetry chapbook;
Jack Powers—winner of the 2012 & 2015 Connecticut River Review Poetry Contests. and finalist for the 2013 & 2014 Rattle Poetry Prizes;
Dimitri Rimsky—poet & dramatic performer; & Faith Vicinanza—Poet Laureate of Southbury, CT; and music by acclaimed singer / songwriter Don Lowe.
Collage Workshop
Saturdays, January 27 & February 3
11am - 1pm
Collage can be a way to express oneself, to think through design ideas or just to have fun with materials. Magazine images and scrap paper will be available to cut, tear and assemble on card stock of varying sizes and shapes. Please feel free to bring your own materials with you if you would like.
No creative or artistic ability is needed, just a willingness to let go, have fun and glue things together.

Larkin at 101

Larkin at 101 is a celebration of the life and work of Philip Larkin, who was born in Coventry in 1922. Larkin was not a prolific writer, but by the time of his death in 1985, his four small volumes of poetry had won him a reputation as one of England’s greatest poets of the 20th century. The program includes an introduction to Larkin’s life and a reading from among his most celebrated poems.
