Rep. McCormick: “Yeah, there’s going to be some layoffs of veterans.”
Today in NEW footage outside the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Rich McCormick threw his support behind Elon Musk’s plan to fire 80,000 employees from Veterans Affairs.
McCormick said, “there’s going to be some layoffs of veterans; that’s the way every business and every government process has been.”
“Rich McCormick caring more about Elon Musk than he does about protecting Georgia’s veterans is a fireable offense,” said DPG spokesperson Alex Yerkey. “Rich McCormick’s loose lips are exactly why the National Republican Campaign Committee had to tell its members to stop holding town halls altogether.”
VA Secretary Doug Collins, who once represented Georgia in Congress, announced mass layoffs in a video posted yesterday on social media after his internal memo was publicly released — despite promising “throughout his confirmation hearing that he would work to make [the VA] more efficient.”
Collins, McCormick, and other prominent Georgia Republicans including Governor Brian Kemp, have celebrated Musk’s DOGE cuts even as the consequences of the so-called “government efficiency” agency’s reckless spending cuts deliver chaos to people all across the country, including Georgians.
