Library Holiday Closures:

The New Haven Free Public Library will close at all locations on Monday, January 2 for  New Year’s and Monday, January 16 for Martin Luther King Day.

Intro to Computers for Older Adults
Thursday, January 5, 10-11:30 am | Ives
Learn how to use a mouse & keyboard, and understand passwords, how the unit works, and more. This course will be 1 hour followed by questions and some hands-on assistance. Ask a librarian for help to register.

Fun with Foreign Shakespeare
Monday, January 9, 7-8 pm | Zoom

Join us for a discussion of how Shakespeare's plays have been adapted from around the world! This month, we will be covering the film Throne of Blood, Akira Kurosawa's 1957 film that transports the plot of Macbeth from medieval Scotland to feudal Japan. Please watch the film before attending the meeting.

CfAL staff provides in-person and online workshops to help people sign up for assistance paying for internet. They will be on-site and will assist you in filling out applications.

Save the Sound’s Urban Waters Initiative

Thursday, January 19, 5:30–6:30 pm | Fair Haven

Join us to hear from a dedicated group of Fair Haven residents that have been taking photos of places in your neighborhood that may represent environmental benefits or hazards. Our documenting efforts aim to identify issues in the neighborhood where we can improve access to nature, water quality of the river, and overall quality of life.

Amy Turner in Conversation - On the Ledge: A Memoir

Join the Adult Services department for an evening conversation with Amy Turner about her new memoir On the Ledge, detailing her brush with death and how it led to her recovery from trauma. Poignant, intimate, and at times surprisingly humorous, On the Ledge offers proof that no matter how far along you are in life, it's never too late to find yourself.

Yoga and Movement

Get ahead of your new year’s resolutions to get moving with a new FREE monthly program for adults! Led by instructor Deb Crowley, a 200hr Kripalu Yoga Instructor practicing yoga for over 20 years . All levels of experience, including beginners, welcome! Wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise. Recommended: yoga/exercise mat, folded blanket, or cushion.
