Have you noticed the Town's newest public art sculpture that was installed earlier this spring near the plaza entrance to Town Hall? Drawing on inspiration from native Colorado wildflowers, Still Wild adds a new touch of vibrant nature to Downtown Castle Rock.

Join us as we dedicate the colorful sculpture at an informal ceremony at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 12. There will be light refreshments and fun giveaways to celebrate.

In 2021, the Town received a $50,000 donation from Confluence Companies, developer of Encore, for the purpose of adding art to the shared plaza area just south of Town Hall. The Public Art Commission assembled a selection committee and issued a call for entries for the art piece. The committee reviewed over 70 submissions and ultimately selected artist Amie Jacobson, who grew up in Colorado Springs, for her wildflower proposal Still Wild.

Standing 15 feet tall, the steel, painted wildflowers celebrate and honor all that is native and natural to the land that hosts the thriving community of Castle Rock. Internal LED lights cast a beautiful glow that ensures the sculpture, featuring lupine, black-eyed Susan and paintbrush wildflowers, is as beautiful at night as during the day.

"It is our hope that our community's newest public art piece will beautify and add vibrancy to Castle Rock for residents and visitors to enjoy for many years to come in this important civic space," said Public Art Commission Chair Jen Perry.

This piece is a permanent addition to the Town's collection of public art managed by the Public Art Commission which works to create community vibrancy with art reflecting the Town’s charm, heritage and beauty.
