Join us the second weekend in June at Newton Fest! Residents and visitors can celebrate everything that makes Newton such a great community to live in. Newton Fest returns with a weekend of special events and family-friendly activities. Festivities will include live music, free entertainment and family fun held throughout the town and hosted by the City of Newton, community organizations and local businesses.

5:00pm - 7:00pm: DMACC's Chalk the Walk (FREE) at Maytag Park ?(301 South 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Join DMACC at Maytag Park and bring out your inner artists! Take part in this fun, FREE, chalk art competition at Maytag Park and get creative! Chalk will be provided. There will be prizes for best themed, most creative and best under 13! More information coming soon!

7:00pm: Summer Concert Series at Maytag Bowl featuring Dueling Fiddles (FREE) at Maytag Bowl (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Compromised of violinists Hanna Wolle and Geneviève Salamone, the Dueling Fiddles are a sought-after entertainment duo based in Des Moines, IA. This energetic and entertaining duo mix the rich sounds of the violin with self-produced accompaniment for unforgettable performances.

Those attending the free concerts are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and are welcome to bring coolers to Maytag Park as they enjoy the free, live music.

All Day: Newton Alumni Association's Class Window Displays - Downtown Newton

All classes celebrating their reunions are invited to participate in this fun display of Red Pride! The theme is remember our past while looking forward to the future. Awards are given for most creative, most nostalgic, and best overall at Saturday's Brunch.

10:00am - 4:00pm: Try the YMCA Day - Newton YMCA (1701 S 8th Ave E; Newton, IA 50208)

The Newton YMCA will be open for the public to use free of charge, from 10am-4pm. The free entry will include the use of all YMCA facilities including the pool, workout equipment, fitness classes and tours of the facility. For anyone who decides to sign up for a membership on Friday, they will receive a discount of no joiner’s fee (a saving of up to $60).

10:30am: Free Community Movie - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - Capitol II Theatre (116 1st St N; Newton, IA 50208)

Free Community Movie for all ages. Starting May 26th, pick up your free tickets in advance at Capitol II Theatre. Movie starts at 10:30 am. Doors open 45 min before showtime. If needed due to popularity, a second theater will open up with a show time of 10:35 am.  $4 Popcorn and Pop Special will be available.

11:30am - 12:00pm: Water Yoga - Maytag Pool (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

The City of Newton and Red Sun Yoga are offering a Water Yoga Class at Maytag Pool from 11:30am to Noon. The class is free but pool entry is $5 or pool passes are accepted. Open for all ages. Bring your swimsuits and let’s do some refreshing yoga in the pool.

12:00pm - 9:00pm: Food Trucks - Legacy Plaza (403 W 4th St N; Newton, IA 50208)?

Kulinary Khaos, Magoo's Pizza, and Thumb's Up will be at Gezellig Brewing Co. at Legacy Plaza throughout the day.

6:00pm - 10:00pm: Thunder Nites featuring Sirius Jones - Downtown Newton

The best bike night event in Jasper County is back! Get on your bike and ride to the downtown square. This event will feature live music from Sirius Jones, food trucks, vendors, a beverage garden and more!

7:00pm - 9:00pm: FREE Community Pool Party  - Maytag Pool (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Enjoy a fun family night at Maytag Pool courtesy of the Advantage Credit Union! The pool will be open free of charge from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with concessions sales available.

9:00pm - 10:30pm: FREE UV Glow Foam Party - Maytag Park (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Kids and adults will have fun jumping through the foam, scooping it up, hiding underneath it and having a blast. The foam cannon stacks piles of UV glow foam while the Driving Cap Entertainment's dj plays live music and creates an experience like nothing we've had during Newton Fest in the past. The foam is biodegradable, hypoallergenic, non-staining, and scent free.

Newton YMCA 2023 Pickleball Tournament - Aurora Park (2111 1st Ave E; Newton, IA 50208)

$45 per team. Teams will be seeded based on performance in round robin play. All matches best two out of three. Medals will be given for participants placing 1st - 3rd place. Three competition divisions are: Open Doubles; Women's Doubles and Intermediate Doubles. More details and registration available on the Newton YMCA website.

8:30am & 1:00pm: Newton Alumni Association's Jack Chadwick Golf Tournament - Westwood Golf Course (3387 Hwy F48 W; Newton, IA 50208)

Shot gun starts at 8:30am and 1pm. Please call Westwood Golf Course at (641) 792-3087 to reserve your spot. Teams of four are $300...$75 per person paid on the day of the event. They've mapped out a 5k-ish course that starts and ends at Gezellig Brewing Company and weaves throughout the Legacy Plaza neighborhood of Newton. Run, walk, jog - whatever goes! The Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department will be parked at the park with a fire truck, ambulance, police vehicle, and more! There will be fun activities and chances to meet police officers and firefighters.

We're excited to welcome Eric Michaels back to Newton Fest! Eric Michaels has been performing magic since he was a child. Starting with a little ring and a piece of string from his very first magic set, Eric began his journey into the magical world of mystery and excitement. Eric's show has developed into a one-of-a-kind class act that is jam packed with puzzling magic, audience participation, comedy, live animals, and his beautiful assistant! 3:00pm: Newton Fest Dodgeball Tournament - Maytag Park Tennis Courts (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

This FREE dodgeball tournament is being organized by the City of Newton's Community Services Department. There are two separate age divisions; 12 - 17 and 18+. The tournament is a single elimination tournament. There are prizes in each age division for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as "Best Dressed Team". Register online today.

Damon Dotson is a singer/songwriter based out of Des Moines, IA and originally from Northwest Iowa. Dotson has released four original albums and played countless shows throughout the Midwest. He has opened for legendary performers like BB King, Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, as well as modern artists like Matt Nathanson, Edwin McCain, and The Lone Bellow.
