On Monday, Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced the approval of assistance for two projects set to create 223 new jobs and retain 165 jobs statewide.  

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $10.1 million in new payroll and spur more than $4.4 million in investments across Ohio.   Projects approved by the TCA include:

Vinyl Kraft Acquisition LLC, village of New Boston (Scioto County)

Also on Monday, Governor DeWine provided updates from the State of Ohio regarding remediation work at the site of the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Remediation work includes sediment washing, contaminated waste removal, private well sampling, air monitoring, wild animal necropsies, trauma coping resources, business support, and the health assessment clinic. 

On Tuesday, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted joined executives from Honda and LG Energy Solution as they broke ground on their new EV battery plant, providing a first look at the facility site near Jeffersonville, Ohio.

Also on Tuesday, Lt. Governor Husted presented a proclamation and provided remarks at Tolles Career & Technical Center in recognition of Fiber Broadband Awareness Week. The week, co-hosted by Team Fishel and Amazon Web Services, highlighted careers in the broadband industry and included free tech skills training courses to help build the skilled, technical workforce in Ohio. 

Finally on Tuesday, Governor DeWine provided an update on the ongoing remediation work at the derailment site in East Palestine. Remediation work includes bulk liquid transfer, a track removal plan, private well sampling, air monitoring, wild animal necropsies, and the health assessment clinic. 

On Wednesday, Governor DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine took part in several events in East Palestine. The day included a visit to the train derailment site, a visit to Sulphur Run and Leslie Run, a meeting with the district superintendent, a communitywide crisis-relief supply distribution event with the Brightside project, and a joint press briefing with the Ohio EPA, U.S. EPA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. 

Also on Wednesday, Lt. Governor Husted joined local business, education, and community leaders from Toledo to discuss the $150 million allocated in the Executive Version of the State Operating Budget toward the creation of new innovation hubs throughout the state. 

Finally, on Wednesday, Lt. Governor Husted visited Apollo Career Center to participate in a tour and roundtable discussion with school and community leaders to learn about how the career technical education funding in the Executive Version of the State Operating Budget could help them expand their programs to enroll more students.

On Thursday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine joined members of the Ohio History Connection and its partners to celebrate Ohio Statehood Day. The celebration included the unveiling of an America 250-Ohio Celebration billboard and announcement of the Ohio History Leadership Award recipients. 

Also on Thursday, Governor DeWine provided remarks at the newly announced Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force inaugural meeting. Announced during his 2023 State of the State address, the task force will study the issues surrounding quality of life and quality of care in Ohio's nursing homes. 

Finally, on Thursday, Governor DeWine provided a status update on the new dioxin testing that U.S. EPA Administrator Michael Regan and Ohio EPA Director Ann Vogel ordered Norfolk Southern to begin performing. In addition to the dioxin testing, updates were also provided on hazardous waste removal, municipal water testing, private well sampling, animal necropsies, student services, the health assessment clinic, and trauma coping resources. 

On Friday, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted joined executives from Synergy Building Systems to break ground on University Park IV, a new office development for defense contractors.

Finally, on Friday, Governor DeWine released an update on the remediation work at the site of the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The remediation work includes health assessment surveys, track removal, an agriculture meeting, new signage, a municipal water open house, private well sampling, hazardous waste removal, animal necropsies, student services, and resources to cope with trauma.
