At the Idaho Republican Party’s Winter Meeting this past weekend, resolutions were passed, signaling the beginning of a robust path toward legislative action. These resolutions, crafted to reflect conservative priorities and Idaho values, will be introduced by two key legislative liaisons, House Assistant Majority Leader Josh Tanner and Senator Glenneda Zuiderveld. These influential legislators extend a vital role between the party and lawmakers. Their leadership, experience, and unwavering commitment to Idahoans are critical to advancing the party’s agenda.
Josh Tanner, a State Representative for District 14, is one of the key figures advancing these resolutions. He is the current Assistant Majority Leader for the 2025 Legislative Session in the State House of Representatives. Known for his steadfast commitment to conservative principles, Rep. Tanner has established himself as a strong leader within the Idaho legislature. He has been appointed to the Appropriations, Resource and Conservation, and Ways & Means committees, where his pragmatic approach and ability to allocate resources efficiently have made a tangible impact. In addition to his legislative role, Tanner has served as Chairman of the Eagle Fire Commissioners since 2018, where he has focused on public safety and resource management. Outside of public service, Tanner is also an entrepreneur and holds an Executive MBA from Boise State University. Tanner’s results-oriented work ethic and dedication to Idaho’s future make him a highly effective advocate for Idaho Republican Party’s policies.
Working alongside Representative Tanner is Glenneda Zuiderveld, a State Senator representing Legislative District 24. She has been appointed to Finance, and Health & Welfare committees. This will be her second term as a liaison for the Idaho GOP. Zuiderveld has called Idaho home since she was four years old. Her deep roots in the state influence her passion for defending freedoms and preserving Idaho’s way of life. Her commitment to these values is personal; two of her sons have proudly served in the U.S. Army. Zuiderveld made headlines in 2022 when she successfully unseated an incumbent, demonstrating her determination and the trust placed in her by constituents. Zuiderveld’s passion for serving her state and protecting its prosperity makes her a crucial partner in advancing conservative policies.
Some notable resolutions that will be offered for legislation include Resolution 2025-1, which seeks to amend flag code regulations. This measure emphasizes the respectful and limited display of flags by public entities. Another key resolution, 2025-19, proposes raising the threshold for constitutional amendments by requiring signatures from at least 10 percent of registered voters in 23 out of 35 legislative districts, up from the current 18 districts. This change aims to strengthen the initiative process, creating a higher threshold for addressing statewide Referendums.
With Representative Tanner and Senator Zuiderveld leading the charge as liaisons, the Idaho Republican Party can rest assured that their legislative priorities are in capable hands. Together, they are committed to advancing conservative measures that uphold Idaho’s sovereignty, protect its traditions, and ensure the state’s continued prosperity for generations to come.
