AN INTERVIEW WITH OUR ACTOR OF THE WEEK:
IRIS WESLEY

Introduce yourself, and tell us how old you are!

Iris Wesley, 12 years old

Why do you love theatre?
I love theater because I love to pretend, play, and imagine. The ultimate part is being able to include an audience in the magic.

How long have I been at Poison Apple?
Six and a half years.

What has been your favorite show that you've performed in?
That's a tough one because each show has a special place in my heart, but Frog and Toad during Christmas 2017 is still my favorite. The music, cast, and costume changes were so fun. It was a very magical show.

Favorite Role?
I have loved being Susan in this December production of Narnia! I love our cast, my show siblings, the music, and magic! Please come see this wonderful show! "You can't imagine how wonderful it was..." Come see us!

What’s something you’ve learned from participating in theatre?
I have grown up in this theater and have learned so much. I have learned that mistakes aren't as big as they seem, the show will go on, and everything will be okay.

Can you tell us about a moment onstage when something didn't go as planned? How did it turn out?
Theater is full of surprises which is part of the fun of a live show. Someone may forget a line but it always works out.

What's one piece of advice you'd like to give to someone stepping onstage for the first time?

You will only forget your cues, lines or songs if you don't believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself you will succeed. Don't let fear and doubt bring you down.

Is there anyone you'd like to give a shout-out to for supporting you on your acting journey?
My family for always being there for me, for always supporting me no matter how small or big my part is.

Tell us the shows you have participated in with Poison Apple!
Honk Jr., Seussical the Musical, Frog and Toad, Annie, Aladdin, Frozen, Lion King, The Show Must Go Online, Dear Edwina, Charlie Brown Christmas, Aristocats, Snow White and the Seven Dorks, Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer, Winnie the Pooh, and Narnia the Musical to name a few!
