From: Polk County Public SchoolsLake Region High’s football stadium will receive a new name on Friday night (Sept. 15).
The stadium is being named in honor of Stephen White, LRHS’ first principal, who will be in attendance. The name will be officially announced after the first quarter of Friday night’s game against Lake Wales High. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
More information from current LRHS Principal Amy Hardee:
“Before the first graduating class of 1996 set foot on the new LRHS campus, Mr. White made sure every detail was in place. Yet when the school opened, they did not have a football stadium of their own. Mr. White advocated for a stadium.
“The naming is overdue, because Mr. White will always bleed Carolina blue, silver and black. Mr. White states, ‘The greatest time in my career was when I was principal at LRHS. Being the principal that opened the school and developing traditions was beyond belief in one’s career.’
“Now, the stadium will hold his name represent all of the teachers and students of LRHS…the Thunder Rolls!”
