The 2025 season welcomes featured artist Tyler Kimball of Monarch Glass along with a variety of botanically-focused festivals and events

Kingsville, Mo. Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s botanical garden, unveils its 2025 lineup and Tyler Kimball (Monarch Glass) as the featured artist whose work will take center stage during Painted Garden (April 26-June 15). Planning for Kimball’s display, along with the exhibitions, festivals, and special events listed below, has already begun.

“Powell Gardens offers seasonal programming that not only augments the beauty and diversity of our landscape but also provides multigenerational opportunities for connection,” said CEO Cody Jolliff. “We want every visitor that walks through our doors to feel connected to Kansas City’s botanical garden and take pride in the Midwest spirit of place.”

  • Spring (March 1 – May 25): Open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Summer (May 26 – September 1): Open Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Fall (September 3 – November 2): Open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Winter (November 20 – January 3): Evening hours during the Festival of Lights.

2025 Exhibitions and Festivals

  • Orchid Delirium (March 1 – April 13): Delight in hundreds of unique orchids inspired by Victorian-era fascination and collection hysteria.
  • Painted Garden (April 26 – June 15): Celebrate spring with botanical displays and art installations.
  • Festival of Butterflies (July 17 – August 3): Discover the magical world of pollinators through interactive experiences.
  • Dark Forest (October 17-18, 23-25, 31 & November 1): An immersive, multimedia trail experience created in partnership with Quixotic.
  • Festival of Lights (November 20 – January 3): A dazzling holiday celebration transforming the Gardens into a winter wonderland.

Horticulture Highlights

  • Daffodil Days (March 26 – April 6): Over 100,000 blooming daffodils across the gardens.
  • Conifer Tips (April 30 – May 11): Discover unique Coniferae from Powell Gardens’ collection.
  • Desert Days (June 17 – 29): Explore creative displays of Powell Gardens’ cacti and succulents.
  • Wildflower Week (July 7 – 16): Appreciate the beauty and significance of native Midwest plants.
  • Waterlily Wonders (August 5-17): The vibrant colors and structures of lotuses and waterlilies will be on display.
