Schedule:

January 26, 2024

11:30am: Tech Talk for Students (Grades 4 and older)

Students will hear a presentation and participate in Q and A with local creative professionals working in tech and interaction design. School groups please register by emailing [email protected].

6:00–8pm: PULSE Art and Film Night: Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis

Doors open 5:30pm

Come enjoy an evening of projections, cool tech projects by local artists, and a classic anime feature. Art projects by Savannah-based artists will include large-scale projections by Will Penny and John Colette, and an exhibition of media art and interactive works made with AI. At 6pm, enjoy a screening of the classic animated feature Metropolis (107 minutes, 2001).

Spectacular visuals highlight this acclaimed Japanese anime by director Rintaro, set in a futuristic, regimented society where human and robots are at odds. Often cited as among the most beautiful of anime films, Metropolis is inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 film and based upon the manga by Osamu Tezuka, with a screenplay by Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira). The film is rated PG-13.
