Race to the Right: GOP Governor Primary Takes A Turn for the Worse

VIRGINIA – The Democratic Party of Virginia is launching a new series to highlight the nasty GOP Governor slugfest as Winsome Earle-Sears, Dave LaRock, and Amanda Chase race to the right taking extreme positions and tearing each other down all while leaving Virginians behind.

START YOUR ENGINES

Ready, set, go: Last week, Dave LaRock  and Amanda Chase entered the Republican primary because of Sears' “defects as a candidate” and “pretty serious issues with her campaign.” Her once uncontested primary begins erupting in chaos and infighting.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING?

Watch your back: After months of running uncontested, Sears is finally having to fight for the GOP nomination and is going on the offensive. During a radio interview, Sears hurled insults at her opponents calling LaRock “extremely bitter,” and a liar, and made a personal attack on Chase, telling her to “get a grip.”

CRASH & BURN

Sears Gets LaRocked: Just one week after LaRock entered the GOP field, he’s already in hot pursuit of Sears. During an interview with WMAL, LaRock called Sears “extremely divisive,” accused her of having an inability to unite the base because she is “a talker, not a doer,” and suggested he thinks Sears has “already given up” on winning the general election.

LaRock then doubled down against Sears on the John Fredericks show. LaRock told former Trump Co-Chair John Fredericks that Sears “divided her base” and cautioned that the recent polls with Sears losing is just “a glimpse at where we could be in November ...”

Chasing Winsome: Chase levied attacks of her own against Sears, declaring that Sears is merely “kowtow[ing] to the political establishment” and doesn’t “stand up” for Virginians in her Chase for Governor newsletter

THE FINISH LINE

Bottom line: No matter who comes in first in the race to the right or how much the GOP candidates fight each other, they all agree on the same radical agenda backing ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights.
