Heidi Henderson’s work set to songs by the 1970s duo The Carpenters, untitled sad piece examines the sensation of a sinking heart. In quiet reiterative solos, touching duets, and one wild investigatory burst of galumphing, five dancers respond to the deep sadness in the grain of Karen Carpenter's voice, initiate from the dancers’ hearts, and find tenderness.

Join Dr. Lucy Ferriss, co-founder and board president of the Afghan Female Student Outreach, as she presents the work of the non-profit, which is committed to helping return Afghan women to intellectual and professional life. Learn about how the work is conducted through many university professors, including Fairfield University. Dr. Ferriss will be joined on stage by Dr. Sonya Huber, who has collaborated closely with AFSO, Maryam Gharmal ’26, and Grace Lannigan ’25.

Renowned klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer and South African pianist and composer Kathleen Tagg present their new project, Good Vibes Explosion. By responding to negativity in the world, they created a musical celebration of our shared humanity. Their first album from the project, Mazel Tov Cocktail Party, offers an exuberant, high-octane mix of dance music, blending square dance, polka, hora, calypso, hornpipe, and hip-hop. It’s pure joy.

In the aftermath of a tragic fire in April of 2019, a five-year restoration project began on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. As the iconic landmark reopens to the public, Mount Holyoke College Professor Emeritus Michael Davis, PhD, will share the beloved medieval monument’s immortal saga and newly engineered revival—complete with the most up-to-date images—as Notre Dame prepares for its next 1,000 years.
