As Donald Trump increases his threats to Virginia’s workforce and economy, Republican lieutenant governor candidates John Reid and Pat Herrity refuse to stand up for Virginians.
Herrity, who represents nearly 80,000 federal employees as a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, told Fairfax Now that he “fully” agrees with Trump’s mass layoffs. Herrity was the only member of the Board who voted against adopting policy recommendations that cited opposition to significant reductions in the federal workforce as a top priority.
Reid has posted multiple times on social media in support of Trump’s cuts, writing on Facebook, “[...] it’s gonna hurt but it has to be done.” He also criticized people for being “devastated” about workers losing their jobs without notice.
"Pat Herrity and John Reid are wholeheartedly supporting Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s workforce, proving they do not care about Virginians who lose their jobs or the damage to Virginia’s economy," said DPVA Communications Director Kelsey Carolan. "Virginians deserve a lieutenant governor who will fight to protect their jobs and future, and it's clear the Republican candidates will put Trump’s agenda over the needs of Virginians.”
