Drop-Off Program

WHAT IS IT?

The Town of Windsor now offers a free recycling program for food scraps. It's easy! Separate your food scraps at home into a 5-6 gallon pail. Once the pail is full, bring it to the Windsor Transfer Station to be made into compost.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

- The first 500 residents to sign up at townofwindsorct.com/compost can pick-up a kit at the Transfer Station for free. The kit includes a kitchen countertop pail and a roll of compostable bags.

- Bring food scraps to the Transfer Station as needed.

- Note: You do not need a kit to participate. You may bring your own pail to the Transfer Station.

About the Program:

The Town of Windsor now offers a residential food waste drop-off program!

Food scraps can be collected at home and then brought to a designated location at the Windsor Transfer Station. Then, the organic waste is hauled to a commercial composting facility to be turned into nutrient-rich compost.

This drop-off program is voluntary and available for free to all residents.

Transfer Station permits are not required to participate in this program.

500 Free Composting Kits Available – First Come, First Serve:

In an effort to assist residents with participating in this program, the town has made 500 composting kits available for free on a first come, first serve basis. These kits contain a countertop pail and a roll of compostable bags so that you may start composting (limited availability).
