Kari Lake “gradually dug her own political grave”

ARIZONA -– After last week’s “utter disaster” debate performance, it has become clear that Arizonans know Kari Lake has “lost credibility with a giant portion of the electorate” and even Republicans “can’t stomach Lake” because she is a power-hungry liar who will do or say anything to boost herself – even when it hurts Arizonans.

Key Points:

  • … Among the broader group of Republican and independent voters, she is doing even worse than she is with Trump-first voters: She’s viewed unfavorably by more than 20 percent of overall Republicans and over half of independents…

  • Her extreme rhetoric helped make her a national MAGA star — and some Arizonans can’t buy that she’s changed…

  • A large chunk of the state’s more traditional Republicans continue to feel alienated by Lake’s denigration of the late Sen. John McCain and his supporters during her 2022 campaign…

  • But today, Adams argued, she’s primarily defined by her status as a political loser…

  • “She’s lost credibility with a giant portion of the electorate, which, at the beginning of that game, could have been hers,” said Chuck Coughlin, a former GOP political strategist in Arizona….

  • The Guardian: “Lake has alienated some conservatives and independents with her attacks on the Republican establishment and her embrace of election denialism, including in her own failed bid for governor in 2022, which she claims – baselessly – was stolen.”

  • Politics Unplugged: “She went for nasty, she went for loud and unhinged and she accomplished those objectives. But she didn’t get a single new vote and she’s in desperate need of them.”
