Frenchtown, NJ (2023): Roxey Ballet announces open auditions for their 28th annual production of the beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, on Saturday, September 16 at Mill Ballet in New Hope, PA.

Students from all local dance schools are invited to participate and experience this unique opportunity to dance alongside professional company dancers. 

Recognized as the most family-friendly production in the region and a long-standing community tradition, Roxey’s Nutcracker provides the perfect introduction to ballet for children of all ages and is a timeless holiday performance enjoyed by adults. The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara and her friends as they embark on an enchanting voyage encountering magical mice, giant rats, marching soldiers, swirling snowflakes, waltzing flowers and the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy. Directed by Mark Roxey, Artistic Director and Founder of this acclaimed professional company, it features over 200 costumes designed by Alicia Worden and Nilda Roxey. The cast is a blend of international professional dancers and students from local towns that include New Hope, Lambertville, Doylestown, Flemington, Newtown, Stockton, Hopewell, Lawrenceville, Pennington, Ewing, and Princeton.

Dancers age 4 and up taking at least one ballet class are invited to audition. All dancers must pre-register online by noon on September 15 by completing the registration form and paying the $39 audition fee. Auditions times are as follows: 3:00-3:30 ages 4-6, 3:45-4:15 ages 7-10, 4:30-5:00 ages 11-13, 5:15-6:00 Ages 14+. The Nutcracker will be performed beginning Thanksgiving weekend and into December with shows for all ages, a sensory-friendly performance, and a matinee for students. A holiday tradition that is not to be missed!
