11:00am - 12:00pm: George Washington's Rum

Steve Bashore, the lead distiller at Mount Vernon will be coming to present George Washington's history with Rum during colonial times. Steve currently makes Rum and other liquors at Washington's Mill in Alexandria Virginia

12:00am - 12:45pm: Bahama Bob's Rum Styles

Bahama Bob will present a history of Key West through the eyes of liquor, rum in particular.   Bob is a Key West legend, he has been voted into the top 15 in the world in rum.  He has been an ambassador for rum for two decades

1:00pm - 1:45pm: Paul Menta

Paul is the Owner of the First Legal Rum Distillery. He will present how Barrels are more complex than just the aging process within the barrel. He will present how the age of the wood, the type and make up of the wood,including charring, toasting location, and absorption affects the flavors attempted to be achieved.

1:45-2:30pm: Shawn Martin

Shawn is a former International judge and currently works as the Key West rum maker for Papa's Pilar Rum.

His presentation will cover fermentation,and take a deep dive into the science of distillation. The differences between a pot and column still as well as the heads, hearts, and tails of rum making. He will also discuss the art of the cut.
