Hi Everyone, here is an important release regarding the North Shore School District Non-Public (Private & Parochial) Schools Transportation Requests Deadline.
Please see below.
I have copied Michele Hall, head of Transportation Office on this email if you have any questions or need anything further.
For Immediate Release: North Shore School District Non-Public (Private & Parochial) Schools Transportation Requests Deadline.
The North Shore School District would like to remind all parents & guardians of children attending non-public (private & parochial) schools that transportation requests must be filed on or before April 1, 2023, in order for the students to be eligible for transportation during the 2023-24 school year. All requests must be submitted in person at the Transportation Department by Saturday April 1, 2023 or sent by Certified Mail Postmarked on or before April 1, 2023. Failure to submit the transportation request form on or before April 1, 2023, may result in your child being ineligible for transportation for the 2023-24 school year. In this case, the cost & arrangement for transportation will be parental responsibility. The State Education Department & the Board of Education require that a separate application be filed each year even if your child is already receiving transportation.
In accordance with New York State Education Law, transportation requests received after the above date will not be accepted unless a reasonable explanation is given for the delay or the District can provide the transportation under existing arrangements without additional expense. A belated decision to enroll a student into school is not a reasonable explanation for late submission of a transportation request. Those students who move into the District after the expiration of the deadline can still submit a written request for transportation provided such request is made within thirty (30) days after establishing residence in the district.
In order to qualify for transportation, the student must legally reside in the North Shore School District. A Kindergarten pupil must be five (5) years of age no later than December 1, 2023 & meet eligibility guidelines established by the North Shore Schools Board of Education. The current guidelines are kindergarten through twelfth (12th) grade students must live more than 3/4 of a mile from school. Students are not transported more than 15 miles from their residence.
If the district is closed due to inclement weather, there will be no transportation to any schools. If the district is operating with a delayed opening, then all schools will be transported on a delayed schedule. School closing information can be found at our website at www.northshoreschools.org.
NOTE: Parent/guardian is responsible for notifying the school district of change of address and/or phone number or when transportation is no longer required.
Please come in person or send all requests by certified mail to North Shore Schools, Transportation Department, 340 Shore Road, PO Box 412, Glenwood Landing, New York, 11547-0412. If you have not yet received a request form, please contact your child's school, call the Transportation Office at 277-7930, or print the form from the District Website at: www.northshoreschools.org. On the home page, click on "THE DISTRICT," then look for "Policies and Forms" on the left side of the page.

Many Thanks to All Who Donated to Mutual Concerns;
from Peggie Como:
Our community has given generously to Mutual Concerns this holiday season! Diane Krupin, enrichment teacher at the Sea Cliff School & her students organized a food drive for us. Beautiful gingerbread centerpieces lovingly made by the Sea Cliff Daisy Group led by Sasha Marra & Meghan Roberts were a special treat for our seniors & Laura Ryniker guided the Sea Cliff Elementary students in making individual pumpkin breads for each senior.
Agents from Douglas Elliman & Daniel Gale donated turkeys, chickens, hams & food items for holiday baskets for those in need.
On New Year's Day, a group of very brave souls went to the Sea Cliff Beach to partake in the annual Polar Bear Plunge. This event was started about 25 years ago by Charlie Weinstein. Throughout the years, attendance has grown, & this year the crowd was bigger than ever. Everyone was asked to bring some non-perishable foods for our pantry. I'm delighted to report that a large amount of food was donated.
On behalf of the entire board, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each & everyone of you that sent in cash or food donations. The outpouring of love & support is just amazing. We can't thank you enough.
Photo Caption: Agents from Douglas Elliman & Daniel Gale wanted to spread some holiday cheer this year. Douglas Elliman collected groceries & Daniel Gale donated turkeys, chickens & hams to be distributed this year for our Christmas & Chanukah baskets. People like you are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for this generous act of giving!

Mutual Concerns Committee:
Many don't realize there are people in our community who go without proper food every day due to a variety of factors including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age, divorce. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, children & the elderly are most at risk & they make up the largest number of people we serve.
In times like this, it's comforting to know that we live in such a giving community. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. If you have ever donated food, made a financial donation of any kind, or volunteered your time, we thank you. It may seem like a small act to you, but to someone else it can make a huge difference.
If anyone would like to donate food, call Peggie Como at 516-675-7239.
If you would like to make a financial donation, make checks payable to Mutual Concerns Committee & send it to PO Box 164, Sea Cliff, NY 11579
