Smothered season 2, starring and created by Jason Stuart and Mitch Hara, is now available on all major streaming platforms and is ready for the EMMY love for Short-Form Series and Best Actors. Last year Jason and Mitch were on the approved list for Emmy nominees for season one of Smothered. With only 11 actors on the list for best actor in a Short-Form Series, Jason and Mitch were two of them. The Academy picked 5 out of the 11 with John Travolta & Kevin Hart taking 2 of the 5 spots (not bad company).
For Your EMMY Consideration 2022, Smothered, season 1, was also one of 25 series approved for Outstanding Short-Form Series. Most of the other shows were short versions of well-established series, The Walking Dead, Carpool Karaoke, or network shows, but Smothered still made the approved list. This ‘little gay engine that could’ series was one of the few true indie, and self-produced series to be included. With a bigger, and better, season 2 of Smothered up for EMMY consideration again, we are hoping the Academy will finally recognize two well marinated men ‘of a certain age’ who refuse to wait for permission to create – and won’t be ignored. Jason and Mitch are on a mission to show Hollywood that representation matters, and they will let nothing stop them from creating their own destiny.
Please see below for more information on Smothered season 2….
Smothered season 2 is the short form series (each episode is under 10 minutes) from creators Jason Stuart & Mitch Hara which just dropped its highly anticipated 2nd season in May 2023 on all major streaming services including Amazon, Apple, DirecTV, and Revry. Smothered was named ‘One of the best comedy series’ by Amazon for their first season and was nominated for the Spotlight Award at the Indie Series Awards. Jason Stuart, a respected actor/comedian/activist with over 150 film & TV credits, and in 2022 was named one of Out Magazine’s OUT 100 (which highlights the most popular and influential LGBTQIA+ celebrities in the US), Won Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Smothered’s first season by The Indie Series Awards. Mitch Hara, actor/writer/director is a graduate from the acclaimed Actor’s Studio in NYC and has appeared on numerous film and television series. His award-winning solo show Mutant Olive is touring the country gaining rave revies. Season 2 of Smothered is even bigger and better than season 1 and boasts an impressive cast of guest stars that include Amanda Bearse (Married w/ Children/Bros), Jai Rodriguez (Bros/Queer Eye), Carole Ita White (Laverne & Shirley), Armand Fields (Queer as Folk) and more. Smothered follows a battling, button-pushing gay couple (Stuart & Hara) who can’t stand each other, but can’t afford to get a divorce. So, they try and salvage their hideous relationship in therapy hell before they kill each other and everyone else.
Both Stuart and Hara were nominated for Best Actor, and the series for Best Digital Series, at the Queertly Awards and are on the list for consideration for Outstanding Actors & Series for the Emmy Awards.
