The 2nd annual festival will take over downtown in a unprecedented collaboration amongst all Greenville theatres.

SCNPF 2023 kicks off on Thursday evening, August 10, with a presentation of "The Game" by Rhett Guter and directed by West Hyler, at CentreStage.

This show combines mind-blowing illusions with high-quality dances.

- Two new Plays.

- Two new Musicals.

- One new Variety show.

- A Town-Hall Panel.

- A Broadway Cabaret.

Friday at 2pm, August 11, The Greenville One Center will host The Post-COVID evolution of American Theatre, a Town-Hall style panel with the Artistic Directors who run Greenville Theaters, as well as Broadway producers, National Theater Leaders, and CEOs of live-streaming companies.

Friday evening, August 11, the Greenville Theatre will host "A Black-billed Cuckoo" by Mat Smart and directed by Shelley Butler. This comedy follows a close-knit birding group in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.

Saturday matinee, August 12, features "Kween" by Vichet Chum and directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh at The Warehouse Theatre. This play follows a queer Cambodian American teen's journey to find her voice after her dad's deportation.

Saturday evening, August 12, the Gunter Theatre at the Peace Center will showcase "The Essential Alice," a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Featuring music by the late Michael Friedman and a book by Annie Weisman, the play is directed by two-time TONY winner Des McAnuff.

Sunday matinee, August 13, the South Carolina Children's Theatre will present "Catching the Moon: The Story of a Young Girl's Baseball Dream" by Tyrone L. Robinson and Nichole Jackson and directed by Clark E. Nesbitt. This musical tells the true story of Marcenia Lyle, who became the first Black woman to play for a professional baseball team.

Sunday evening, August 13, Miguel Cervantes (Hamilton in Hamilton on Broadway) will share backstage stories from working on the Broadway productions of Hamilton, American Idiot, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and more and then the audience will hear Miguel sing songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda to Green Day in an intimate cabaret setting.

It all happens over one weekend in Greenville, SC!

Casting Announced for SCNPF 2023

The star-studded cast of SC New Play Fest 2023 boasts a stunning 19 Broadway credits! You've heard them on the cast albums of Waitress, Ain't Too Proud, The Great Comet..., and The SpongeBob Musical and seen them on the TONY Awards. These Broadway veterans join local Greenville stars and recent Fine Arts Center graduates.
