St. Patrick's Day Celebration

With the anticipation of Spring, but still in the grip of Winter, the residents of Emmetsburg, Iowa, strive to break the monotony of the long cold season by reliving the customs of their ancestors. Each year, they commemorate the feast of Ireland's patron, St. Patrick, and recall the life of one of Ireland's heroes, Robert Emmet, with a three day St. Patrick's Day celebration , the likes of which are unequaled in all the land!

Location: St. Pat's Heated Tent at 10th and Broadway.
Sign up to play or come cheer on the teams competing in the Annual Bean Bag Tourney. Download form to sign up. Warm-up 5:30. Tournament begins 6:30 p.m. Sharp!

7:00pm - 10:30pm: IRISH FOLK BAND
V.F.W. has Irish Folk Music playing with Jerry Ryan who is orginally from Emmetsburg as a band member. There will be a free will offering with donations going to the V.F.W. and ECS Auctionfest!!

8:30am: O'ROUND THE LOCH SCHOLARSHIP RUN
Location: Smith Wellness Center
- The 10K race will begin at 8:40 am.
- The 5K race will begin at 9:00 am.
- 1.7 fun/run walk will start at 9:10 am.
- The 1/2 marathon will begin at 8:30 am. Please note: The 1/2 marathon requires a short walk to the starting line and has a four-hour limit.

Stop by the St. Pat's Heated Tent Saturday morning!!! Activities for kids including: Face Painting, Crafts, Donut Hole Eating Contest, Photo Booth(Props will be provided, please bring your own camera). Pedal Tractor Pull Sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America. Free Caricatures by Lauren Naig sponsored by Palo Alto Art Council.

11:00am: CHAINSAW ARTIST- LOGS4HEROES
Location: Emmetsburg Fire Department Front Lawn
Logs4Hereos  showed off his Irish creations for us last year and they were a hit, and he can be found on the firehouse lawn! Two carvings will be auctioned at the Event Tent (6 p.m.).

1:30pm: FAMOUS ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

3:00pm: SOCIAL GATHERING OF THE CLANS
Location: Emmetsburg Fire Station
This annual event will take place at the Emmetsburg Fire Department following the parade.  There will be beverages in an atmosphere for all ages.

3:30pm: FREE MOVIE-
Location: Riviera Theatre
Free admission to the movie.(No more than 100 people allowed.)  Following the parade, get some popcorn and relax to a free animated movie. This year we will be showing

5:30pm - 7:30pm: ROWAN MCCACTNEY AND FRIENDS
Stop in to the Event Tent after the Gathering of the Clans at the Fire Hall and listen to Irish Music from Rowan McCactney and Friends. Also, stay for the auctioning of the wood carvings and raffle ticket drawing!

8:30pm - 11:30pm: NEW TRICK BAND
Location: St. Pat's Heated Tent at 10th Street and Broadway
Stop in to the Event Tent after the Gathering of the Clans at the Fire Hall.  The New Trick Band will be entertaining after Rowen McCactney and Friends.  So stop in and enjoy the music and beverage garden from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.!
